There is over 1.1 km (~0.7 mi) of sandy, east facing beach at Pentewan. The beach itself is privately owned by the adjacent holiday camp and, while open to all, can only be accessed by non-residents from the northerly end by the disused harbour. Swimming is generally safe except in strong easterly winds - there are marked areas for swimming for safety. Other water sports taking place here are surfing, wind surfing, sea canoeing and kayaking, water skiing and sailing, although jet skis are not permitted. The beach is close to the South West Coast Path and Pentewan Leisure Trail.
