About Rescobie Loch

Rescobie Loch is a post glacial loch, with a surface of 0.59 square km (146 acres), situated in the Parish of Rescobie, in the county of Angus, Scotland. It is supplied via Lunan Waters which enters from the west and exits to the east. It has a maximum length of 2 km (1.25 miles), a maximum width of 0.55 km (0.33 miles) and the maximum depth is about 6 m (20 feet). It is thought to be the location of Rescobie Castle, also reported to as Barnsdale Castle, but there is no trace of the castle left nowadays. It is stocked with hard fighting rainbow and brown trout.
