This gently sloping pebble and shingle beach lies between Folkestone and Hythe - both these larger seaside towns are within easy walking or cycling distance along the promenade. Sandgate Beach itself is much quieter than its more famous neighbours, but is known to be very good for fishing. The waters are of an excellent quality - the beach is Marine Conservation Society Recommended - so swimming favoured here too. The town of Sandgate lies directly behind the beach, so facilities are extremely handy.
