About Sutton Park

About Sutton Park

Sutton Park is the seventh largest urban park in Europe at approximately 970 hectares (2,400 ac). Remarkably for an area as close to the urban sprawl as it is, it has been designated a National Nature Reserve and SSSI. One quarter is covered with ancient woodlands, in addition to seven lakes and mix of heathland, wetland and marsh habitats. Cattle and wild ponies graze freely in the park, which is criss-crossed by pathways, trails and bridleways for runners, walkers and cyclists. Sailing, kayaking and canoeing take place on two of the lakes, and fishing is another popular activity.
