This Marine Conservation Society Recommended beach lies within the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is bordered by pine forests, part of the Holkham National Nature Reserve, and is an attractive area for bird watchers for the species drawn to the salt marshes. Access to the beach is on foot or via a narrow gauge railway. Swimming and sailing are popular, as well as wind surfing and water skiing, but this is for local club members only. There is a land-locked brackish pool nearby, used for canoeing and other leisure boating activities.
