Wistman's Wood Nature Reserve

Wistman's Wood is a high altitude oak wood located in the county of Devon, England. It is in the Dart River valley and offers stunning views of wild Devon. It is one of the highest oak woods in UK. Enclosed by the granite tors and moorland of Darmoor National Park, the wood is a National Nature Reserve managed by Natural England. This beautiful woodland is significant for the mosses and lichens that festoon the trees and the imposing granite boulders. Tourists should be equipped suitable, with adequate footwear and clothing. The area is home to a vast population of adder, a venomous snake.
