Brighton Central Beach is highly popular with visitors, not least because it is accessible by rail from London in less than an hour. The shingle beach is therefore likely to be busy in warm weather. At low tide, a flat, sandy foreshore is revealed.
The beach holds the Quality Coast Award, a Blue Flag award and is Marine Conservation Society Recommended. Water quality is therefore good for swimming, surfing and other water sports. Kite flying and walking are also popular. The long distance walking trail, Monarch’s Way, heads west along the seafront above the beach.
