About Buachaille Etive Beag - Stob Dubh

About Buachaille Etive Beag

Buachaille Etive Beag is a mountain situated on the edge of Rannoch Moor, between Glen Coe and Glen Etive in the Highlands region of Scotland. Its height reaches 958 m (3,143 ft) and it has a prominence about 468 m (1,535 ft) – this summit is named Stob Dubh.

There is also a further summit, Stob Coire Raineach, which is also listed as a Munro and stands at 925 m (3,035 ft). The most usual path up the mountain begins at the head of Glen Coe on the A82 road. A rocky pathway passes up to Glen Etive, from where a hike up the hillside takes walkers to the mountain pass between the two summits. Stob Coire Raineach is around 0.5 km (0.3 mi) to the north east, while Stob Dubh is a slightly longer walk of 2 km (1.2 mi) to the south west.

From the summits, there are amazing views down into the Loch Etive and of the surrounding peaks of Glencoe.
