A Marine Conservation Society Recommended beach, Combesgate at Woolacombe in Devon is a sand and rock beach, largely obscured when the tide is in. The best time to visit is between low and mid-tide when activities include swimming and surfing. For children, there are rock pools and exotic shells on the beach to explore. In addition, there are good walks available around the headland to the National Trust-owned Morte Point.
Access to the beach itself is via steep steps, so it may not be the best option for families with push chairs or those with mobility problems.
