Once a fishing port, Fleetwood is now a terminal for ferries to Larne, and its sandy beach is a popular destination for families. The recently refurbished seafront provides views across to Morecambe Bay while on the beach, swimming is a popular activity and there is plenty of space for building sandcastles, walking, kite flying and relaxing.
The water quality is acceptable and the beach has been awarded a Quality Coast Award for its cleanliness. In the area, there is also a boating pool for model boating. An unusual Grade II listed lighthouse, the Beach Lighthouse, graces the seafront.
