About Lochnagar National Scenic Area

Lochnagar is a mountain located five miles south of the River Dee near Balmoral, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Its height reaches 1155 metres (3789 feet) and it is classified as a Munro. The mountain's main characteristic is a north-facing corrie around which most of the auxiliary ridges as well as the principal summit sit. The most frequently used climbing track is from Glen Muick. Attention should be paid on the mountain when the visibility is weak, the plateau has some clear aspects and has craggy cliffs on its northern limit.
