21 km (13 mi) to the north-east of Leeds, Lotherton Hall Country Park features an Edwardian house and country estate. The bird garden provides a home for over 130 different species and is one of the UK’s best collections of rare and endangered birdlife.
There is also a rose garden; a William and Mary garden with a sunken pond and plant walls; a rock garden; and The Dell, an area with winding sunken paths and a tennis court overlooking the pasture and open landscape beyond.
The woodland features nature trails and another attraction is the red deer park. Across the site, there is plenty of open space for games and picnicking and playgrounds for children.
