Newark Bay is situated in Deerness, Orkney. In the 1890s, it is said that a mermaid was observed here for a couple of summers. The sandy beach can be observed via a nice coastal walk to Point of Ayre. It can be spotted wading birds at Newark Bay, including purple sandpipers and ringed plovers, and at the eastern side there is a car park and pretty golden sand with rocky foreshore.
