Close to Ramsgate, Pegwell Bay Country Park’s wildlife and coastal habitats are the gateway to the Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve, which has internationally important populations of overwintering and migrating waders and wildfowl.
The park also supports a wide range of flora, especially blossoming wild flowers in summer. Visitors come for informal recreation, including picnicking, geocaching, cycling and walking the waymarked trails. There is a bird hide with disabled access for birdwatchers and surfaced paths for short or longer strolls and cycling.
The Saxon Shore Way passes through the site and there are impressive views of Sandwich and Seal to the west and the cliffs of Ramsgate to the east. The park is a frequent holder of a Green Flag Award.
