Likely to get busy in summer, Porthpean is a popular beach with family groups. It lies in St Austell Bay and is south-east facing. Accessible directly from the car park, it has a good stretch of golden sand for playing beach games or simply relaxing. Rock pools abound towards the western side of the beach, while the cliffs to the east play host to a variety of nesting birds for bird watchers. Wind surfing, sailing and kayaking are all popular off this Marine Conservation Society Recommended beach, but jet skiing is not permitted.
