About Saltburn Beach

About Saltburn Beach

This flat sand and shingle beach is protected by the 111m (365ft) Huntcliff headland and is backed by a promenade, with a pier. The beach is said to have one of the best surfing aspects on Britain's eastern coastline for surfers of all abilities. Body boarding, water skiing, sea canoeing and kayaking, jet skiing and swimming are also popular. Although water quality has varied in recent years due in a large part to the weather, it is thought to be improving. A Victorian tram provides access from the cliff top to the promenade and a miniature railway links the shore to formal Italian gardens.
