Shibden Hall is a Grade II* listed building that has its origins in the 15th century; and its estate has been a public park since 1926. It lies around 1.6 km (1 mi) from Halifax.
There are 32 hectares of informal park and woodland, all sympathetically restored and featuring waterfalls, pools, tunnels, terraced gardens and fruit gardens, as well as flower beds planted in a Paisley Shawl design. There is a boating lake with row boats and pedalos for hire and a miniature railway which runs alongside the lake, as well as a children’s play area.
There are various displays of horse-drawn vehicles and 19th century rural industrial tools and a permanent dry stone walling exhibition.
