A sheltered, sandy beach flanked by impressive chalk headlands either side, Swanage Beach is gently sloping and has clear, calm waters for swimming. It's won the Blue Flag and Quality Coast Awards consistently over a number of years and is very popular with families. A host of water sports take place, including wind surfing, sailing, water skiing, sea canoeing and kayaking. The Victorian pier is a well-known fishing spot and is also a key location on the south coast from which to go diving and scuba diving. It lies on the South West Coast Path for walkers and is close to a number of traditional seaside amusements.
