Widemouth is actually split into two smaller beaches, North Beach and South (or Black Rock) Beach by a large, natural rock barrier. Backed by low cliffs, sand dunes and grassy downs, it is sandy and ideal for those seeking rock pools to explore. It's also a renowned surfing spot, with several outlets for equipment hire and training nearby. Swimming is also popular, and there is a designated bathing area for safety. There are also fossils to be found on this beach, which is accessible via the South West Coast Path.
