Ben Hope is the most northerly of the mountains classified as Munros, being located in isolation in Flow Country, Sutherland. It has an elevation of 927 m (3,041 ft) and a prominence of 772 m (2,533 ft).
The main route to the summit begins in Strathmore, to the west side of the mountain, where there is some parking. The track up to the summit is steep and littered with cairns, but is otherwise sheltered. Climbers rarely ascend from the east side, which is a wide flat of heather-covered moorland with no roads for easy access.
When visibility is good, the view from Ben Hope includes the Penland Firth, Loch Eriboll, the Orkney Islands and the neighbouring mountains of Arkle and Foinaven.
