About Kielder Water & Forest Park

Kielder Water and Forest Park is a manmade reservoir and woodland in Northumberland. Kielder Water is the largest artificial lake in Northern Europe and Kielder Forest the largest manmade forest in England. This spectacular park is one of Northumberland's most beloved attractions.

The attractions in this vast 250 square mile (647 km2) park are plentiful. The beautiful scenery alone is one reason to visit, but the park also has many other recreational draws. Enthusiastic anglers can take to the lake for a spot of trout fishing, while water sports such as waterskiing, sailing and boating are popular too. A 26-mile trail known as the Lakeside Way takes cyclists, hikers and horse riders around the shoreline of Kielder Water. Nature aficionados will enjoy the diverse wildlife the park has to offer, including the 'Kielder Super Six': red squirrel, osprey, pipistrelle bat, salmon, otter and roe deer.
